Healthcare Reform? Just Say No!

After listening to the debate on the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act this past week, I’ve come to the conclusion that the law is unconstitutional.

Regardless of how the justices ultimately decide, regardless of the merits of the law, the mandate portion of the law is indeed an overstep by Congress. Although healthcare reform is absolutely needed to stave off bankrupting this country, a decision in favor of the Healthcare Act would set a precedent that would ultimately not be in this country’s interest.

Furthermore, I’ve decided that I’m a fan of Paul Ryan.  That man is a genius!  We need to begin the dismantlement of Medicare – but keep it for all those that are old now, because old people still vote – even if they are coming off hip replacements.

I see the beauty in his construct – it’s a 10 year plan to end Medicare and Medicaid.  It will save the government trillions!

OK, that’s a little tongue in cheek – the fact of the matter is, I’m joining the millions of apathetic voters in this country that simply no longer care.

You see, I have great healthcare insurance, which I get to keep until I die.  Where I see the Ryan logic is in this:  There are finite numbers of hospital beds, doctors, nurses, and medical resources.  If these resources are extended to the unwashed masses – there is less for me to utilize when I need them!  To quote the late, great Herman Cain – “Get a job!”

The idea of a government mandate, compelling engagement in commerce that I do not wish to take part in (until I need it), is clearly not the way to go.  Going back to business as usual, while not solving any of the current financial problems in the healthcare area of spending, is much preferred!

If you don’t have insurance, you can always continue to utilize the hospital emergency room for your primary care, though I seriously wish you wouldn’t.  Every time you do that, you simply stick the taxpayer with a bill you can’t afford to pay.  It would be much more financially responsible of you if you just did the humane thing and crawled into a ball and died.

That would lead to lower premiums than I already enjoy – you’d be making a heroic stand against the system!  Statues might even be erected in your honor!  Especially if you die on the principle of opposing the mandate!  I know I’d see you as heroic!

Alas, I fear this will not turn out well for this country.  If/when the Supreme Court announces its’ decision to overturn the Healthcare Act, the President and liberals in congress will actually try again to fix this broken system.  If the American public is stupid enough – and I never question the stupidity of the American public – to put more socialist democrats in to Congress – they might force a single-payer system down our throats.

Imagine, Medicare for all Americans of any age and not just the elderly!  This would be the end of western civilization and the ruin of the nation!

So I’m asking all Americans that care about things like liberty, god, and capitalism to save us from a tyrannical congress that would force you to see a doctor when you’re ill, to vote against what might appear to be in your best interest, and save the healthcare system for people like myself – honest Americans fortunate enough to have great healthcare insurance!
